DESCRIPTION:Matipo Primary School Cross Country \nWednesday 27 November \nDress in house colours for the annual Matipo Cross Country – grab your best cross country kit in Whero (red)\, Kowhai (yellow)\, Kakariki (green) or Kikorangi (blue) and join in!  The children will be sitting in their houses and we welcome whanau to come support their team.  House points will be awarded to tamariki and whanau for their team spirit. \nOur school cross country has always been about participation and we’re proud of all the children on the day. We see great examples of friends helping each other around the course\, running as much as they can and being cheered home by their house. \nCross country races will start at 9.10am and there is a walking option for those\, who for whatever reason are not able to run on the day. Whanau and teachers are invited to join together for a 100m sprint\, once all the children have crossed the finish line. \nThis year we will again have a chill out zone available for children that need some time to rest after their race.  This will be on the covered green court area. \nWe will keep an eye on the weather forecast and decide on Tuesday if the event needs to be moved due to rain. If we decide to move the date we will let you know on Tuesday afternoon on our website\, facebook page and on email.  \n  \nRun Schedule \nOver the page is a schedule for the morning to provide a guide for family and friends who want to come along for the morning. We welcome all Matipo parents\, caregivers and whanau. \n9.10 am Children are grouped into their houses by trees ready to start. \n9.15 am Walkers set off \n9.20 am Year 0 (Boys & Girls together) \n9.25 Year 1 (Boys then Girls) \n9.30 Year 2 (Boys then Girls) \n9.35 am Year 3 Boys \n9.40 am Year 3 Girls \n9.50 am Year 4 Boys \n10.00 am Year 4 Girls \n10.10 am Year 5 Boys \n10.20am Year 5 Girls \n10.30am Year 6 Boys \n10.40am Year 6 Girls \n11.00 am Whanau and teachers 100m sprint \nBefore all children go back to their classrooms\, and after final house scores and last messages are shared by the school\, we welcome you to say well done and give your little champion a big hug. We’ll ring the bell to return to class for morning tea. \nThe whole event should be finished between 11.30 am.  \n  \nCross Country Course \nBelow is an overview of the cross country course. Years 0-2 run one lap of the course\, years 3 & 4 run one lap plus an extension\, years 5 & 6 run two laps. There will be teachers stationed around the course to provide encouragement and guidance as needed. \nThe course starts on the main field and goes between room 13 and room 14\, around behind room 12/13/library/staff room block\, up the bank towards the flying fox\, up over drive along the bank to the back field\, and then around past the rainbow playground and back down the main field.  \nWe will have Juicies for sale at morning tea on Cross Country day – $2 each (bring cash on the day.) \n
